Description
The Norwegian architect Sverre Fehn (1924-2009) was a philosophical furniture designer. His designs feel like a room within the room, created to embrace the body and be a place for contemplation. Fehn wanted people to sit down and be at one with both the architectural space and the nature outside.
The Sverre Fehn Venezia 01 Armchair was originally created for what is considered his most important work, the stunningly simple, almost ethereal Nordic Pavilion (1962) in Venice. Until now, only two prototypes of the chair had been produced, placed in Villa Norrköping before Fehn brought them back home to Villa Damman in Oslo. While the architect tried to get the piece into production in his lifetime, he gave up due to high costs and the complexity of the design.
Picking up where he left it more than 60 years ago, Fjordfiesta is committed to bring his vision to a contemporary context. The production of the Sverre Fehn Venezia 01 Armchair has been a journey of dedication and precision, involving expert craftsmanship from both Norway and Italy.
The Sverre Fehn Venezia 01 Armchair is an invitation—to discover details the result of fine craftsmanship, to sit, and embrace supreme comfort.
This project is made possible with the kind support of the Fehn Administration and the Fehn family.
